Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Identified the habits to avoid in drafting
- Identify the items that aid clarity and accuracy in legal drafting
- Understand the meaning of legal / legislative drafting
- Identify the attributes and qualities of a legislative draftsman
- Recognised the parts of legislative enactment
- Understand and appreciate the stages of legislation.
- Appreciate the format and arrangements of legislative enactment
- Lean to be patient, meticulous, analytically minded, critically minded, and research driven.
- Develop interest and flare for the subject of legislative drafting and exhibit a high sense of tolerance, commitment and dedication in the drafting process
- Understand the interrelationships of the various departments of government; and a good knowledge of the political and economic system
