MODULE 3: LEGAL AND LEGISLATIVE DRAFTING 

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identified the habits to avoid in drafting
  • Identify the items that aid clarity and accuracy in legal drafting
  • Understand the meaning of legal / legislative drafting
  • Identify the attributes and qualities of a legislative draftsman
  • Recognised the parts of legislative enactment
  • Understand and appreciate the stages of legislation.
  • Appreciate the format and arrangements of legislative enactment
  • Lean to be patient, meticulous, analytically minded, critically minded, and research driven.
  • Develop interest and flare for the subject of legislative drafting and exhibit a high sense of tolerance, commitment and dedication in the drafting process
  • Understand the interrelationships of the various departments of government; and a good knowledge of the political and economic system
